Eligibility for Aadhaar Enrolment
- All residents of India (citizens and non-citizens).
- NRIs with valid Indian passport.
- Foreign nationals with valid visa/OCI/PIO and stay of 182+ days in preceding 12 months.
- Children (under 5): No biometrics initially; update at age 5 and 15.
- No documents? Use Head of Family (HoF)-based enrolment.

Aadhaar Enrolment Process
The process uses document-based or HoF-based approach.
Document-Based Enrolment
- Visit any Aadhaar Enrolment Centre (locate via UIDAI site).
- Fill Aadhaar Enrolment Form with demographics (name, DOB, gender, address, mobile/email).
- Submit valid PoI and PoA documents for verification.
- Capture biometrics: Photo, 10 fingerprints, 2 iris scans.
- Review data, provide consent (signature/thumbprint).
- Receive 28-digit Enrolment ID (EID) acknowledgement slip.
Head of Family (HoF)-Based Enrolment
For those without documents; HoF enrols first, then introduces family with Proof of Relationship (PoR).
- HoF enrols with valid PoI/PoA.
- HoF introduces family members with PoR documents (e.g., ration card, birth certificate).
- Follow steps 4-6 above for each member.
